An interesting glimpse into the Heritage:

Once done on muslin cloths, the art of Chikankaru embroidery gained its fame during the persion rule in India, around the 17th century. Originating in Lucknow, famously called as the City of Nawabs, this technique of embroidery adopts the shadow type method, and hence lighter colored fabrics are preferred, a lot of pastel colors in use.

Chandi means Silver in Hindi. Laces with leaves and vines usually make up the neck and the sleeves of the outfit while floral motifs make the entirety of the piece with glittering zari (gold/copper) dots throughout.
