This is a reproduction of the original painting triptych from the collection called 'Birds and Biomes' that was done with gouache and embroidery. It has been printed on acid free, heavy 88lb. Polar Matte Paper using a professional fine art printer. These are greeting cards that are 4"x6" in size when folded and 8"x6" in size when opened. The inside of the cards is left blank and is perfect for handwritten notes.
This is a set of 3 greeting cards. There is an option of selecting your choice of envelope. The set comes with small info cards that describes each artwork.
Info card (Sandhill Cranes): Sandhill Cranes love inhabiting and nesting in the reedy wetlands where they almost camouflage with the surroundings. Their chicks are called Colts because of their precocious nature of running soon after they are born. Keeping this scene in mind, I tried creating a marshy landscape that would resemble a perfect nesting site.
Info card (Belted Kingfishers): Belted Kingfishers have an air of self-importance about them while they patrol up and down rivers and ponds. Females with double belts of blue and brown across their chest have brighter and more attractive colors than the males. Wanting to depict this, I tried painting the judgy stares of the ladies sitting on the trees while one of them takes a dive to catch a fish. The bright colored Aspen trees in the background only makes the scene look more alive.
Info card (Snowy Egrets): One of the most elegant of the Herons, Snowy Egrets have immaculate white plumage with black legs and bright yellow feet. I couldn’t help but pick these birds as the only choice for a flying scene. Specifically using rows of beads that enhance the look of their wings, I tried capturing their flight in varied positions.
Each greeting card is made to order, so please allow 2-3 business days prior to shipping.
