An interesting glimpse into the Heritage:
The use of Kantha embroidery really began as a way to sew together rags to create useful bags out of them. But a lot of years later, now beautiful sarees have elegant running stitches of Kantha on colorful fabrics. Originated with the Bengali speaking population, state of Orissa in the east of India still remains in the lead for this type of embroidery.
Gullalla is the other name for Tulips in Hindi. Kantha embroidery is also symbolic to how a simple running stitch can come along so beautifully on a cloth.
