Bagh Phulkari
 
Mundane Description of the Ornament:
An original gouache artwork painted on both sides of a 3" dia ceramic ornament. It comes varnished with 1 coat of Krylon Kamar spray varnish and 2 coats of Liquitex matt varnish to ensure protection from sunlight over time. The ornament comes with a matching, handmade velvet silk lace, bought from Fringe and Rose, a small business based in LA, California. The artwork is double sided and can be hung either way.

An interesting glimpse into the Heritage:
Phul means Flower and Kari means shape in Hindi. So Phulkari literally means embroidery of flowers. Hailing from the state of Punjab in the northern region of India, heavy Phulkari embroidery has been seen done on dupattas (scarves) of women for all types of occassion. It is colorful, bright and extremely pleasing to look at.
 
Bagh means Garden in Hindi. Phulkari has a lot of traditional patterns depending on the stitch, technique and colors. Bagh is a pattern where the entire fabric is cover in embroidery.

Due to differences in monitor screens, color may appear slightly different in person than on screen.
Hanging hardwares are not included. Comes with a matching lace to hang.
