An interesting glimpse into the Heritage:
Phul means Flower and Kari means shape in Hindi. So Phulkari literally means embroidery of flowers. Hailing from the state of Punjab in the northern region of India, heavy Phulkari embroidery has been seen done on dupattas (scarves) of women for all types of occassion. It is colorful, bright and extremely pleasing to look at.
Bagh means Garden in Hindi. Phulkari has a lot of traditional patterns depending on the stitch, technique and colors. Bagh is a pattern where the entire fabric is covered in embroidery.
